Helllooo, “Human.” How are you liking the village? Is it better than your underground lair?

I always knew the Humans were not really extinct, as those so-called “scientists” at the academy like to claim.

You Humans were far too advanced to let something as small as an asteroid knock you out.

My theory is that you have been living under ground all these years, sealed away in some ancient vault for protection.

It was only a matter of time before you emerged, bright and beautiful as a Bahari afternoon!

Keep a metaphysical mind out there, ok?

So many people call me crazy, simply because I do not fit their mold...

Did Caleri tell you why we never visit anymore? It has to do with the last time we were out in the field.

I...thought I found a device that ancient Humans used to fly.

Caleri did not believe me and I got angry, so I tested it.

I do not know what would have happened if Chayne had not found me.

The healer, Chayne, says fresh air is good for my mental wellbeing.

I am not sure what is so bad about my mind the way it is, but still, I do not see any harm in going for a walk every once in a while, do you?

The electricity went down in my house, so I am trying to harvest an electric eel to get everything going again.

I think he may join us for our next excursion.

My house is so full of all the whosits and whatsits I have been collecting over the years, I could really use a place to put them all.

The whole community should be able to learn about this stuff…

Why the other day I found an old piscephone...

When I was younger, we used to get all sorts of merchants passing through to get to the Capitol.

Now that boats can get around the island so fast, there is hardly any need to stop.

It is a shame though, they are missing quite the view.

Do not let Zeki fool you with that "Flow detector" nonsense.

If there were really surges of Flow throughout the valley, I think we would all notice.

Auni is great at catching bugs, but sometimes I worry he scares away all the cryptids...

I do not want to discourage him, though!

He is so excited about his discoveries... he reminds me of myself when I was little.

Most people say they have been deactivated.

But I think they are just biding their time...

Sometimes thinking about the village keeps me up at night...

There are so many unknowns out here, and nobody else is watching for them.

If any cryptid wants to hurt someone in this village, they’ll have to go through me!

When I was young, my parents would often take Caleri to the Capital without me…

They knew I wanted nothing to do with the Academy, but it was still lonely.

I would come out to spots like this at night, and try to focus on the face that we were still looking at the same set of stars.

My father used to be a local historian. He actually wrote a book on the ruins in this valley.

Of course, his work tended to stick with the academic status quo.

Like Caleri, he was trained by the Academy not to think outside the box.

He and my mother. I like to think I got the best of both of them…

And if I am the one saying that… well, I only subscribe to a logical amount of superstition.

They… used to fight a lot…

…People often ask why I spend so much time researching my theories.

I suppose if I can prove what I believe is true, then people will not always look at me as if I am crazy.

I heard you and Jina have been working on retrieving the bones of a supposed Glow Whale that died off the coast of Bahari Bay?

Well, I personally would not be fooled by that. I mean, bones can easily be planted.

I thought perhaps Hekla would enjoy the toy we found so I brought it to her before sending it off to the museum...she did not see a resemblance.

I believe the so-called toy you brought us is actually an important human tool. The way I see it, humans would wind it up, spool it out until it touched the ground, and then pull the string to retrieve it. Once the gadget had returned to them, they would touch its smooth surface to see if it was wet. If so, they would know it had been raining.

I see you are wearing a pin. My brooch used to be a pin.

The girl who made it is not around anymore though... she left to explore the world.

And I... I am far too sensitive to the Grimalkin's Flow based communication technology to leave this valley for good.

I suspect the machine your turned in was likely a product of human vanity. When it was operational, you could stare into it and it would tell you the name of the fairest in all the land. It was likely destroyed as a result of the inevitable conflicts that sort of knowledge creates.

Sadly, I discovered the necklace you brought me was NOT a Wol but a Phoenix.

Sooo much less interesting.

Everyone knows the ancient humans revered the Phoenix, but the Wol? That would have been something.

Especially since they didn't exist yet!

I believe the necklace you retrieved means that ancient humans likely worshipped the Wol. Caleri disagreed...

Caleri thinks that statue is of a common Kitsu, but I know better. It's the Wild Kitsaabeast. It was ten times the size of a normal Kitsuu. Everyone knows animals were bigger in the past...that's just science.

I found out from Caleri's friend, Hugol, that the bowl you gave us was not actually a stewpot but an incense burner.

When I expressed my disappointment, he did send me a recipe for Umbraan Lotus root stew.

Unfortunately Umbraan lotus roots only grow near Nocturne, so I'll have to ask him to send me some of those next!

Those ceremonial garments you brought were so beautiful I had to show them to Jel before sending them off, he says it might even inspire a new line.

Upon Caleri's encouragement, I made a replica of the Umbraan lute we found and am learning to play. If the local birds are to be believed I'm getting quite good.

Caleri suggested I play my lute at the Inn rather than outdoors.

The patrons do not appear to appreciate my music as much as the birds.

Thank you so much for bringing us that painting. The creature in it looks exactly like the Flothman. Now Caleri will have to believe me.

I couldn't tell anything about the pot you found from sight, but by smell, that was a different story. I smelled bits of water lotus, gilly root, and the legendary flloatfish orchard. Perhaps they were making some sort of a soup. If so, I shall have to share the recipe with Reth when Caleri's contacts get back to us.

I brought the instrument you found out into the wild and noticed it glows when nearing infected flora and fauna. I hypthesize this means the Umbraans actually eat the infection...or perhaps they worship it... oh well, we will find out when the museum gets back to us.

I was trying to get that banner to transform all day before Caleri sent it off. I know a kopycat when I see one.

Thank you for your discovery of the mermaid. Its presence has proved what I have known all along -- which is that while some humans, like you, hid underground, others took to the sea and adapted to their aquatic environment.

I've been thinking about opening a booth of my own. Unfortunately, Eshe says I must sell something if I want to be considered.

Why, information, of course! I could present some of the specimens I've collected and educate the populace on the mysteries in their very backyards!

Perhaps I could even design some minigames to educate and entertain. Why, it would be a new genre- educatertainment!
