Palia Ranching Guide
How ranching works
Unlock ranching by finishing the Like a Bird quest, then talk to Delaila to get your Barn Bell and your own Ranch. Keep animals in a barn and they fill a production bar with goods — eggs, milk, honey and more. The happier an animal is, the faster it produces, so feed and pet it often; happiness slowly decays over time. Animals also need to stay fed, age through five life stages, and can be bred at the Nursery to pass their traits to the next generation.
Life stages
Animals mature through five stages. The three middle stages produce goods and can be bred; babies and the oldest animals do not.

Ranching FAQ
How do you unlock ranching in Palia?
Finish the Like a Bird quest first — it gives you the glider. After that, Delaila, the Ranching Guild representative in Kilima Valley, hands you a Signal Bell and the recipe for a Barn Bell and starts the Ranching 101 quest. Ring the Barn Bell to teleport to your own Ranch, build a barn, and you can start keeping animals.
Which animal produces what in Palia?
Peki lay eggs, Ormuu give milk, Bumble make honey, and Boovar bring back fish. Beyond those, Ferris forage fruit, Roli dig up salt, Trufflet root out mushrooms, Goobi grow flowers, and Wolpunny gather crop seeds. Keep an animal happy and it fills its production bar faster.
Do all animals produce goods?
Only animals in their productive years do. Young Adult, Adult and Elder animals produce goods and can be bred; Babies and Venerated (the oldest stage) animals do not. Happiness drives how fast the production bar fills, so feed and pet your animals to keep output high.
How does breeding work?
Take two productive-age animals to the Breeding Table in your Nursery and breed them for a baby. Offspring can inherit traits from their parents, and there is a cooldown before a parent can breed again. Breed Biscuits and other cookies change how many traits pass down and which parent's traits take priority.
What are animal traits?
Every animal carries traits in two kinds. Cosmetic traits — colour, pattern, sheen and visual effect — only change how it looks. Functional traits affect how it plays: faster production, slower happiness decay, quicker (or slower) aging, higher donation value, and how it breeds. Trait cookies let you add, remove, reroll or lock an animal's traits.
What do all the cookies and biscuits do?
Each ranching treat tweaks one part of the loop: PalSnax speed up production, Feel Good / Tasty treats raise happiness, the Grow cookies change aging speed, the Breed Biscuits adjust trait inheritance, and the Value Biscuits raise an animal's donation reward. The full list, grouped by what they do, is in the feed reference above.
