Palia Hunting Guide

Every huntable creature in Palia — all six families, every tier variant, drop tables and spawn locations. Each family has its own escape mechanic; learn to counter it and no creature will get away.

Essential tips

Dispel Arrow first

For any magic-tier creature (purple glow), lead with a Dispel Arrow to strip its special ability before finishing with Fine Arrows.

Slime Potion for Ogopuu

Ogopuu spit slowing slime before fleeing. Drink a Slime Potion before engaging so the slow doesn't let them reach the water.

Chop the tree

When Muujin hides in a tree, chop it down with your axe — the Muujin drops out with its health intact and you get a clean shot.

Elderwood Arrows for Infected

Infected variants (bright green eyes) require Elderwood Arrows or a Bag of Illusion IV. Standard and Fine Arrows deal no damage.

Hunter's Horn

The Hunter's Horn reveals the position of nearby creatures, including invisible Bluebristle Muujin — essential in Elderwood forests.

Deer-like creature. Flees when startled, dashing in random directions. Flees with random direction changes when alarmed. Damage persists after it re-enters idle.

Hunting FAQ

How do you hunt in Palia?

Equip a bow and arrows, approach animals slowly, and shoot before they flee. Each creature family has its own escape mechanic: Chapaa burrows underground, Muujin hides in trees, Ogopuu dives into water. Learning the mechanic is as important as your aim.

What are Dispel Arrows used for in Palia?

Dispel Arrows counter magic-tier creatures: they strip the Proudhorned Sernuk's teleport, eliminate Azure Chapaa clones, reveal the invisible Bluebristle Muujin, and bypass elemental shields on masked Jaakcats.

What is the best arrow to use in Palia?

Standard Arrows are enough for tier-1 creatures. Fine Arrows are required for Jaakcats and higher-tier targets. Dispel Arrows are essential for any creature with a magic mechanic — carry a mix of Fine and Dispel Arrows for Elderwood and Royal Highlands hunting.

What is Infected Essence used for in Palia?

Infected Essence drops from Infected variants of Muujin, Ogopuu and Shmole. These variants have glowing green eyes and require Elderwood Arrows or a Bag of Illusion IV to kill. The Essence is used in crafting recipes.
