How companion bonuses work

Water Retention

Granted by Tomato, Potato, Napa Cabbage, or by a matching fertiliser on the tile. A plant earns the bonus once enough of its neighbouring tiles supply it — 1 for a single crop, 2 for a bush, 3 for a tree.

Weed Prevention

Granted by Carrot, Onion, Bok Choy, or by a matching fertiliser on the tile. A plant earns the bonus once enough of its neighbouring tiles supply it — 1 for a single crop, 2 for a bush, 3 for a tree.

Harvest Boost

Granted by Rice, Wheat, Blueberries, Apple, Corn, Batterfly Bean, or by a matching fertiliser on the tile. A plant earns the bonus once enough of its neighbouring tiles supply it — 1 for a single crop, 2 for a bush, 3 for a tree.

Quality Boost

Granted by Cotton, Spicy Pepper, Rockhopper Pumpkin, or by a matching fertiliser on the tile. A plant earns the bonus once enough of its neighbouring tiles supply it — 1 for a single crop, 2 for a bush, 3 for a tree.

Garden Planner FAQ

How do companion plant bonuses work in Palia?

Every crop grants one bonus — Water Retention, Weed Prevention, Harvest Boost or Quality Boost — to the crops next to it. A plant only receives a bonus when enough of its neighbouring tiles hold crops giving that same bonus, and a crop can never buff itself, so mixing types is essential.

How many neighbours does a crop need to get a bonus?

It depends on the plant's footprint: a single-tile crop needs 1 matching neighbour tile, a bush (2x2) needs 2, and a fruit tree (3x3) needs 3. The planner counts the tiles around each plant for you and lights up every bonus it qualifies for.

How does the gold projection work?

It plays out your exact layout over the number of days you choose: each plant's growth and reharvest timing, the extra crops a Harvest Boost adds, and the higher star-quality odds a Quality Boost (or Quality Up fertiliser) brings — then values every crop at its in-game sell, seed or preserve price. Star chance starts at 25% with normal seeds, 50% with star seeds, and a Quality bonus adds another 50%.

Can I share or import a garden layout?

Yes. Hit Share to copy a link that rebuilds your exact garden, and paste any planner share code into the import box to load it here — fertilisers and multi-tile crops included.
