One Step Behind

Overview

Tamala has been sneaking away from the Stables regularly, and Subira has finally had enough. She's asked you to track the wayward alchemist and report back on just where exactly she's been disappearing off to.

Objectives

1. Part 1

   • Find traces of Tamala in the Elderwood.
   • Keep following Tamala's trail.
   • Stay on Tamala's trail.
   • Enter the mysterious cave.

2. Part 2

   You've finally found where Tamala's been disappearing off to. There have to be some clues in here about what she's up to.

   • Investigate the mysterious cave.

3. Part 3

   Now that you've found some damning clues, it's time to leave. Surely nothing could possibly go wrong, right?

   • Head towards the cave exit.

Walkthrough

1. 1
   Once you've got the quest, head south out of the cave system toward the Deep Woods. There you'll find a glowing patch on the ground you can interact with.

   • You spot clawed footprints in the dirt.
2. 2
   Make your way to area G7, where another glowing patch on the ground awaits your interaction.

   • You notice odd slash marks on the cliff side.
3. 3
   Move on to area G8, where you'll find yet another glowing patch on the ground to interact with.

   • The same clawed footprints as before, but pressed deeper into the soft ground.

   Go to area H8 and speak with Sifuu there.

   Head to area I9 and step into the glowing cave.

   Follow the tunnel deeper into the cave.

   • In the room at the tunnel's end, you'll find some berries in a bowl on the ground beside the campfire.

     • Somebody left a basket of fruit here.
   • Check out the pile of hay.

     • This huge pile of straw looks like bedding.
   • Inspect the campfire.

     • This campfire has not been used for some time.
   • Inspect the platform.

     • A mysterious platform with runic carvings in the base.
   • Inspect the trays of plants.

     • Newly sprouted plants. Someone's been tending to them.
   • There's another book in this room called Abandoned Notes.
   • In the second tent on the left, a Suspicious Note sits on the shelf. Interacting with it pushes the quest forward.
   • That same tent holds a pile of stones.

     • A pile of flowstones with an unfamiliar symbol.

   Retrace your steps back through the tunnel you came in by. Here, Tamala will talk to you.
